Job Summary
Use oxy/acetylene torches to bevel and prepare steel plate edges, interpret drawings to ensure precise cuts, and inspect workpieces for quality. Operate overhead cranes and rigging equipment to move steel plates safely while performing minor maintenance on beveling machines. Work in coordination with welders, fitters, and supervisors to meet production goals, following all safety procedures and maintaining a clean work area. This role is part of Phoenix Fabricators and Erectors' turnkey construction operations, supporting field crews on elevated water storage tank projects across the United States.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read a tape measure and interpret basic blueprints
- Able to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Reliable transportation
- Strong work ethic
Desired Qualifications
- Experience operating beveling or cutting machinery in a steel fabrication environment preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Comfortable working in a physically demanding, fast-paced environment
- Familiarity with Oxy/Acetylene torches
- Familiarity with safe rigging techniques and overhead crane usage a plus
