Job Summary
Hands-on Shop Foreman to lead daily shop operations for a power-generation team in Houston, TX. Role focuses on hands-on troubleshooting, technician development, and overseeing inspection, testing, repair, overhaul, and commissioning of diesel and natural gas generator systems. Responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and control system issues across generator platforms, performing voltage changes and panel programming/replacements, and managing scheduling, safety compliance, and overall shop productivity while serving as the primary technical resource for the team. Ideal candidates will have generator experience in oil & gas, heavy equipment, or industrial service, with strong knowledge of generator controls, ECMs, governors, and shutdown systems, plus experience with OEM platforms such as CAT, Cummins, Kohler, MTU, and MQ; ERP/CMMS experience (Acumatica a plus) and the ability to read schematics. The role offers up to $130K depending on experience, and a comprehensive benefits package including health coverage, PTO, and 401K with company match.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of generator experience supporting diesel and natural gas systems, including 5+ years in a lead or supervisory role
- Experience working on major OEM platforms including CAT, Cummins, Kohler, MTU, and MQ
- Strong knowledge of generator controls, ECMs, governors, shutdown systems, and electrical troubleshooting
- Well-rounded mechanical background beyond generators strongly preferred (oil & gas, heavy equipment, industrial service, etc.)
- Ability to read schematics and technical manuals; ERP/CMMS experience preferred (Acumatica a plus)
