Job Summary
Inspect, maintain, diagnose, and repair heavy construction equipment, tools, and vehicles to ensure they meet working specifications. Perform daily, monthly, and annual inspections, report discrepancies immediately, and construct parts as required. Manage parts inventory, log equipment conditions, and recommend new purchases to the Warehouse Manager. Act as Team Leader during the manager's absence and coordinate repairs for building and yard issues while meeting production deadlines. Maintain strict housekeeping standards across the shop and jobsite. Requires a high school diploma, valid driver's license, and two years of construction equipment experience.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Driver's License
- Two (2) or more years' experience as Shop & Equipment Maintenance Mechanic of an equivalent construction related operation
- Proven mechanical problem-solving skills
- Ability to effectively multitask
- Ability to work independently
- Good communication/interpersonal skills
- Good housekeeping skills
- Ability to solve practical problems
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, and scheduled forms
- Ability to apply mathematical skills
- Experience and understanding of the mechanical properties of various construction equipment and vehicles
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to climb on ladders, scaffolds, roofs, etc.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to walk for long periods of time
- Ability to bend the body downward and forward by bending the back at the waist
- Ability to work in a kneeling position several times a day
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull moderately heavy objects and materials (Up to 80 pounds with or without assistance)
Desired Qualifications
- Mechanical Trade School Certifications
- Three to five (3-5) years' experience as a Shop & Equipment Maintenance Mechanic or an equivalent heavy truck equipment
