Job Summary
Shop Assistant/Apprentice Mechanic at Hillsboro Aero Academy, assisting certified A&P mechanics with maintenance, parts runs, and shop duties while gaining hands-on experience toward an Airframe and Powerplant certificate. Training-focused role with company-paid training and testing costs; opportunity for wage progression based on performance. Works Monday–Friday 8:00am–5:00pm, with potential overtime. Training includes 30 months of on-the-job experience equating to two years of A&P School, enabling eligibility for written, oral, and practical tests to obtain an A&P certificate and start a career as a certified aircraft mechanic. Required Qualifications
- Efficient work ethic and drive
- Strong mechanical abilities/aptitude
- Ability to read and comprehend maintenance manuals
- A rolling toolbox and standard tools
- Ability to shift focus and tasks quickly based on priorities
- A strong desire to become a professional aircraft maintenance technician
- Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug tests
- Valid driver license
- Willingness to work Monday through Friday, weekends and overtime if needed
- Ability to gain 30 months of on-the-job training equivalent to two years of A&P School
