Job Summary
Prepare job sites and assist spray painters, blasters, and other team members in pulling lines before, during, and after operations. Clean tanks, work areas, and equipment using prescribed methods, including pressure washers, industrial vacuums, and manual tools. Operate pneumatic, electric, and hand tools to mix paints, apply coatings, and perform general maintenance on U.S. Navy ships and submarines. Monitor hot work operations, maintain fire safety compliance, and respond to incipient-stage fires using approved equipment. Set up and break down containments, move materials, and sort scrap according to safety standards. Perform related duties as assigned, including assisting structural trades during metal work and welding.
Required Qualifications
- Firewatch certification required or obtainable through company training
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds or more (50 lbs occasionally, 25 lbs frequently, 10 lbs continuously)
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including respirators, harnesses, and other safety gear as required
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to work safely in a variety of industrial environments while performing tasks
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and material-handling equipment
- Knowledge of proper use of cleaning chemicals, agents, and cleaning equipment
Desired Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- One (1) year of maritime, industrial, cleaning, or labor experience preferred
- OSHA-10 certification (company may provide)
- Forklift certification (company may provide)
