Job Summary
Conduct abrasive and non-abrasive removal of coatings and paint from surfaces using power and hand tools. Clean work areas, tanks, and spaces using pressure washers, industrial vacuums, and debris removal equipment. Prepare surfaces for coating by mixing paints and following manufacturer specifications. Assist in setting up and breaking down containment, equipment, and materials in shipyard environments aboard U.S. Navy ships and submarines. Monitor hot work operations to ensure safety and maintain compliance with permit requirements. Full-time position at customer facilities in Chesapeake, VA. Pay range $20.00-$21.00 per hour DOE.
Required Qualifications
- Firewatch certification required or obtainable through company training
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds or more (50 lbs occasionally, 25 lbs frequently, 10 lbs continuously)
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including respirators, harnesses, and other safety gear as required
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to work safely in a variety of industrial environments while performing tasks
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and material-handling equipment
- Knowledge of proper use of cleaning chemicals, agents, and cleaning equipment
- Ability and willingness to learn skills and trade related tasks
Desired Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- One (1) year of maritime, industrial, cleaning, or labor experience preferred
- OSHA-10 certification (company may provide)
- Forklift certification (company may provide)
