Job Summary
Pipe Welders needed at a shipyard in San Diego, CA. The role requires at least three years of welding experience with proficiency across multiple welding processes including SMAW, FCAW, TIG, and air arc, and the ability to perform in flat, vertical, overhead, and horizontal positions. The candidate must understand welding procedures, complete pipe welding assessments (including FCAW, GTAW, and VT/UT tests for 2F–6G joints), and demonstrate skills across butt joints, fillet welds, and simulation tasks. English language comprehension, ability to follow safety instructions, and passing a background/vision/drug test are required. Ability to work all shifts and overtime is expected. Location: San Diego, California, United States; employment type is full-time.
Required Qualifications
- Three years of welding experience
- knowledge of welding procedures
- proficient in flat, vertical, overhead, and horizontal arc welding
- SMAW and flux-core welding
- tig welding and air arc skills
- must comprehend written and verbal instructions (in English)
- must pass background check, vision test and drug test
- must be able to work any shift and overtime
- GTAW and related pipe welding assessments
- 6G, 5F, 4F position tests
- VT and UT tests for various joints
