Job Summary

Prepare cost estimates for shipyard projects by analyzing bid opportunities, reviewing specifications and revisions, and obtaining material pricing. Translate vessel drawings and piping schematics while maintaining resource information on vendors and government requirements. Participate in ship checks and monitor multiple projects to ensure goals are met within time and funding parameters. Communicate with engineers, owners, and subcontractors to prioritize workloads. Requires knowledge of ABS and USCG regulations, proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, and ability to navigate work sites using personal protective equipment.

Required Qualifications

  • Effective knowledge of ship hull, mechanical and electrical systems
  • Ability to read and translate vessel drawings and piping schematics
  • Knowledge of ABS and USCG regulations
  • College engineering degree and/or marine engineer license
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience in a marine repair/construction setting
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience that enables performance of all aspects of the position
  • Proficiency in typing and using common office equipment such as copiers, printers, fax machines, scanners and multi-function office machines
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Project, Word and Excel
  • Ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to climb stairs and navigate narrow ladderways
  • Good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp
  • Visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read information
  • Use of personal protective equipment such as respirators, hard hats and safety footwear
  • Ability to visit work sites both indoors and outdoors at all times of the year
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Local applicants preferred

Desired Qualifications

  • College engineering degree and/or marine engineer license preferred
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience in a marine repair/construction setting preferred
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience that enables performance of all aspects of the position
