Shipping/Material Handling Supervisor

The Shipping & Material Handling Supervisor oversees all shipping, receiving, storage, and material movement activities within the manufacturing plant to ensure accurate, timely, and cost-effective handling of raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods while maintaining safety, quality, and productivity standards. This role leads and trains material handlers, forklift operators, and shipping personnel; ensures accurate inventory movement and transaction processing within ERP/WMS and ASRS systems; collaborates with Planning and Customer Service in Corning, NY to achieve KPIs including error-free shipments and on-time delivery; coordinates with Engineering and MET to support equipment changes and process improvements; directs MET and warehouse technicians in troubleshooting and repair of warehouse equipment; oversees loading/unloading of trucks and verifies shipping documentation; enforces safety policies and OSHA requirements; maintains organized warehouse and storage areas; partners with the planning team to drive performance metrics such as ship-to-promise, ship-to-request, inventory accuracy, and labor efficiency; coordinates with procurement to resolve shipment discrepancies and inventory issues; supports Lean manufacturing, 5S, and waste reduction; ensures compliance with company policies, quality standards, and ISO 9000/TL9000; maintains department SOPs and documentation for audits.
