Job Summary
Shipping Lead to oversee daily shipping and loadout operations, ensure materials are safely prepared and documented, coordinate with logistics/production/management to meet delivery schedules, and provide leadership for shipping personnel. Responsibilities include overseeing interview/onboarding/training of new employees, verifying load documentation, ensuring safety compliance, coordinating shipments, monitoring workflow, identifying process improvements, enforcing safety policies, coaching and disciplining as needed, and maintaining quality and efficiency within the department. Requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with hands-on experience operating cranes, telehandlers, forklifts, and related equipment; familiarity with shipping/production management software; and a results-driven, team-oriented approach.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural steel, shipping, material handling, or related operations
- At least 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience
- Experience operating overhead cranes, telehandlers, vertical masts, and forklifts
- Familiarity with shipping or production management software such as Tekla EPMgo is preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and team development skills
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
- Safety-focused mindset with the ability to enforce workplace safety procedures
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
