Job Summary
Verify and keep records on incoming and outgoing shipments by comparing identifying information, counting, weighing, or measuring items against bills of lading, invoices, and orders. Determine shipment methods using knowledge of routes and rates, affix labels, and assemble or pack containers with protective padding. Examine outgoing shipments for specifications, unpack incoming goods, reject damaged items, and correspond with shippers to rectify shortages. Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies while operating tier-lift trucks or handtrucks to move shipments. Direct others in preparing outgoing and receiving incoming shipments as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- 2+ years of experience in shipping or logistics operations
- Understanding of domestic and international shipping processes
- Knowledge of freight carriers, customs documentation, Incoterms, and export compliance
- Good organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and manage multiple priorities
- Familiar with how to look up and provide Harmonized System Code for international shipments
- May operate tier-lift truck or use handtruck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping-and-receiving platform to storage or work area
