SHIPPING CLERK (2ND SHIFT)

Verify and record incoming and outgoing shipments by comparing identifying information, counting, weighing, or measuring items against bills of lading and invoices. Determine shipment methods using knowledge of routes and rates, then affix labels, assemble containers, and insert items with protective padding. Nail covers on wooden crates, bind containers with metal tape, and stamp shipping instructions. Unpack incoming goods, reject damaged items, and correspond with shippers to rectify shortages. Route items to departments and examine outgoing shipments for specification compliance. Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies, operating tier-lift trucks or hand trucks to move shipments.
