Job Summary
Shipfitter 1st Class performing steel and aluminum structural work in repair and modernization of marine vessels. Must read and interpret drawings/NavSea standards, fabricate templates, and install per drawings. Welding experience across SMAW, FCAW, and GMAW; operate oxy-acetylene and plasma; follow directions; 5 years related experience; pass written/practical test, physical, and drug screen. Long-term project located in Florida; OSHA PPE required.
Required Qualifications

- ability to read drawings and ship terminology
- experience with ship repair terminology and Navy/NavSea drawings
- ability to interpret job specifications and drawings
- experience fabricating templates and scribing in structures
- experience welding SMAW/FCAW/GMAW
- ability to use oxy-acetylene torch and plasma cutting
- ability to measure in US customary and metric systems
- pass written and practical test
- pass physical and drug screen
- able to wear PPE per OSHA standards
