Job Summary
Shipfitters are accountable for the completion of daily work assignments, ensuring safety and quality standards while performing shipfitting functions including fabrication and ship repair. Must possess a proficiency in shipyard terminology and demonstrate the ability to interpret complex construction drawings.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years as a B-Class Fitter in a Shipyard or 5 years in a related industry
- Pass approved A-Class Fitter Test
- Ability to interpret and work from construction drawings, job specifications, and manuals
- Knowledge of equipment and techniques used in measuring and fitting of aluminum/steel components
- Advanced working knowledge of engineering drawings and sketches
