Job Summary
Supervise and coordinate workers engaged in fabricating and installing metal structural parts such as bulkheads, plates, and frames in ships.Responsibilities include assigning work across multiple assignments, monitoring progress onboard marine vessels, helping meet production goals, and ensuring safety and compliance with OSHA rules. Skills and tools include reading blueprints, knowledge of ship terminology, ability to read a tape measure, use transits and levels, lofting parts from offsets, making quality cuts with torch or plasma, rigging, and coordinating with other crafts. Requires flexibility to work overtime, weekends and holidays, and the ability to physically perform demanding tasks in a heavy industrial shipyard environment. Candidate traits include integrity, safety consciousness, attention to detail, adaptability, and teamwork.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED or equivalent
- 1-3 years previous shipyard experience
- Previous supervision experience is preferred
