Job Summary
Shipfitter role responsible for laying out, fitting, aligning, and assembling prefabricated cast and forged components prior to welding; performing fitting and machining operations (straighten, grind, burr, drill, ream, countersink) to close tolerances; selecting equipment and lay out materials for welding; may repair/rework parts to restore tolerances and may monitor quality per statistical process or other control procedures; requires strong blueprints literacy, shipyard safety, and ability to handle physically demanding work.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of shipyard Shipfitting experience
- Demonstrated ability to read and work from marine/shipyard blueprints
- Experience fitting structural steel and aluminum in a shipyard setting
- Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and cutting equipment
- Familiarity with shipyard safety practices and confined-space procedures
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in physically demanding conditions
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check
- U.S. citizen required
