Shipfitter - Entry Level and Skilled

Job Summary
Layout, fabrication, assembly, and installation of foundations, structures, bulkheads, frames, components, and deck packages. Align parts using jacks, clips, and wedges per blueprints and templates, then tack-weld structural parts as required. Utilize hands and power tools in steel fabrication while interpreting technical manuals, shipyard procedures, and company drawings. Perform basic layout functions and welding operations including burning and grinding. Work in a collaborative environment at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI. Available to work all shifts, including conditions at heights, in confined spaces, and in extreme temperatures. Requires high school diploma or equivalent with two years of related technical experience.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent OR 2 plus years of related technical experience
- Available to work all shifts
- Ability to work at heights, confined spaces and extreme temperature conditions as required
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, shipyard procedures, test documents, blueprints, diagrams, and perform basic layout functions
- Individuals are required to possess their own basic hand tools
- Basic Mathematic ability

- Steel fabrication or carpentry experience
- Experience working in the construction industry or a manufacturing environment
- Basic mathematical skills
- Vocational, Technical and Community Colleges or Apprentice programs
- Military/Navy experience
