Job Summary
The Ship Preparation Lead is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all activities related to the preparation of ships prior to their deployment or delivery, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards. This role leads the ship preparation team to complete pre-deployment activities efficiently and on schedule, develops detailed preparation plans, and collaborates with engineering and quality assurance departments. Key skills required include strong leadership, technical knowledge of maritime regulations, and excellent communication and organizational abilities.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in maritime operations or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in ship preparation, maintenance, or a related maritime role.
- Strong knowledge of maritime safety regulations and shipboard operational procedures.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage and motivate a team effectively.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Desired Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related discipline.
- Certification in maritime safety or ship management (e.g., STCW, ISM Code training).
- Experience working with diverse teams in a fast-paced maritime or shipbuilding environment.
- Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and project management software.
- Demonstrated ability to implement process improvements and quality assurance initiatives.
