Shift Supervisor (Nights)

Job Summary
Lead a 12-hour night shift at soybean crushing, glycerin, biodiesel, and packaging plants, supervising production staff to ensure safe, efficient output per established schedules. Coordinate daily activities, manage staffing coverage, and oversee start-ups, shut-downs, and changeovers while addressing production alarms and incidents. Enforce safety and environmental procedures, conduct investigations within 24 hours, and report hazards to superintendents. Liaise between management and production teams, coach staff on performance expectations, and deliver job-related training. Maintain shift productivity records in the plant's data system and assist with production functions as needed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Four years of production/processing experience in an industrial setting
- Two years in a supervisory/leadership role
- Continuous 24/7 plant operation with 12 Hour Straight Shift (Nights)
- off-shift call-in requirements when needed
- Regular exposure to a variety of temperatures and prevailing weather conditions
- regular exposure to gases, vapors, dust, odors and flammable liquids
- occasional exposure to areas with wet floors and high volume of noise
- Heavy lifting of manufacturing materials and products
- regular stair climbing
- extended periods of walking and standing
- access to and work in remote areas of the plant
- heights and confined spaces
- Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Authority to recommend hiring, firing, & discipline employees
- Ability to supervise, manage, & direct work
- Ability to hold production staff accountable for personal productivity, safety, attendance and general rules of conduct
- Ability to administer discipline as necessary
- Ability to manage communications to and from Superintendents
- Ability to investigate and resolve any plant issues that may arise during shift
- Ability to initiate plant start-ups and shut-downs as needed
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Soybean processing or ethanol industry experience
