Job Summary
Shift Supervisor role overseeing melt shop operations, including furnace and caster equipment, slag chemistry optimization, and safe, timely production. Responsibilities include visually inspecting furnaces, ensuring slag foaming adequacy, coordinating with operation/maintenance personnel, troubleshooting production issues, assisting supervision, and covering supervisor duties as needed. Requires 5+ years melt shop experience, strong computer skills, ability to read roll and guide drawings, and willingness to work weekends/holidays. Emphasizes training and advancement opportunities within steel fabrication and construction reinforcement industries, with a focus on producing to CMC specifications while maintaining safety and efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years melt shop experience
- detailed knowledge of melt shop and casting operations
- strong computer skills (Outlook, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- ability to read roll and guide drawings
- ability to work weekends and holidays
- data entry in SAP/QMOS
- budget awareness (cost lowering)
- ability to schedule work through work orders/delegation
- ability to work in extreme heat
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
