Job Summary
Commission and integrate new robotic hardware into production while developing and optimizing automated synthesis workflows. Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on chemistry platforms and lab instruments, administering the company's CMMS to ensure compliance and accurate data capture. Lead the maintenance shift team, ensuring consistent standards across sites and collaborating with chemists, automation engineers, and software developers to prevent failed reactions. Identify opportunities to improve workflows and platform reliability, minimizing downtime and supporting service delivery. Requires an early/late 7-day shift pattern.
Required Qualifications
- BSc/equivalent in chemistry
- 18 months+ experience in an industrial or academic laboratory environment
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams
- Problem-solving- attitude and willingness to learn
- experience of synthetic organic chemistry lab work
- early/late 2 shift, 7-day working pattern
- Occasional travel
Desired Qualifications
- Maintenance of scientific/industrial instrumentation
- Robotics (mechanical, fluidic, pneumatic, or electromechanical)
- Test and validation programme execution
- Use of a CMMS to manage maintenance activities
- Troubleshooting of automated or robotic systems
- Knowledge of lab safety and documentation best practices
- Ability to work to performance targets
- Customer service- mindset with a proactive approach
- Interest in automation technologies and continuous improvement
