Job Summary
Shift Safety Officer for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University staffing a 24/7 operation on the Daytona Beach campus. Responsibilities include maintaining campus safety and security through patrols by vehicle, foot, and golf cart; conducting investigations; completing reports; enforcing campus rules and policies; providing escort services and information; acting as a campus liaison after hours; and supporting special events. Requires ensuring safety of personnel and property, monitoring access control, and responding to emergencies. Compensation includes an hourly base with shift differential; schedule includes 10-hour night shifts. Qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED, prior safety/public safety experience, strong written and verbal communication, and ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure; pre-employment drug screening is required. Preferred qualifications include an Associate's degree.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Prior law enforcement, military police, public safety or emergency services experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Ability to write legibly, speak clearly, and manage multiple and sometimes stressful tasks (involving radio, phone, and personal communications)
- A pre-employment drug screening is required and candidate is subject to random drug screening during employment period
