Job Summary
Shift Leader assists the Director to set the overall direction and provides on-site oversight of the shelter and Shelter Support Workers. The Shelter Manager contributes to Bay Cove’s mission by ensuring that services are accessible, inviting, effective, and efficiently operated, thus making the services an ideal environment in which individuals can pursue their personal goals. Responsibilities include supervising shelter support workers, ensuring safe, respectful, and compassionate services in a low-threshold environment, performing safety checks of facilities, completing intake documentation and HMIS entries, following safety plans, coordinating incident reporting, providing crisis intervention and de-escalation as needed (including naloxone administration and CPR when required), and participating in staff meetings and policy adherence. This is a non-exempt, hourly role with a 24-hour shift pattern (Sunday-Monday), located in Cambridge, MA; no visa sponsorship is offered. Candidates should demonstrate flexibility, integrity, and commitment to serving unhoused individuals and those with behavioral health or substance use disorders.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Two (2) years of experience in health or human service-related fields preferred
- Two (2) years of experience working with those who are unhoused and those experiencing behavioral health and/or substance use disorders preferred
- Basic proficiency in word processing and other computer functions using Windows, Word, and Google Email and Apps preferred
