Shift Leader - Equipment Maintenance - C/D Shift

Job Summary

Coordinate and steer Machine Maintenance Technicians while enforcing area standards, operational rules, and disciplinary actions. Prioritize repair work based on production schedules and organize risk identification to minimize production interruptions. Schedule and lead cross-functional team efforts to improve safety, efficiency, and downtime reduction through regular auditing and continuous improvement. Analyze area metrics for trend extrapolation to drive personnel training, efficiency projects, and root cause analysis with corrective action plans. This role supports Blue Origin's reusable space vehicle development within the Integrated Supply Chain and Test Operations teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree and/or 10 years' experience performing machine maintenance practices relevant to Blue Origin's manufacturing environment
  • Minimum of 4 years in a leadership position supervising 10+ technicians
  • Understanding of preventative maintenance programs, including mechanical and electrical components, troubleshooting methods, and TPM methodology
  • Lean manufacturing training and experience
  • Experience monitoring, tracking and continually improving KPI metrics
  • Experience with applying lean manufacturing principles, efficiency methods
  • Proven ability to read and interpret controlled documentation and processes such as: mechanical and electrical drawings, GD&T, schematics, engineering drawings, and parts lists
  • Able to adapt to constant changing work assignments and fast paced work environment
  • Must be willing to work the following shifts as needed; Day shift, Night shift, and Weekends
  • Must be available to work extended hours and weekends as needed
  • Able to travel for short and extended trips as needed
  • Up to 10% travel
  • Must be able to lift 35 lbs. unassisted, stoop, bend, crawl, and maneuver in tight spaces
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e. current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
  • Background Check Required
  • Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles... may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience preferred in fast-paced production environment
  • Proficient with computers, the ability to use MS Office, shop floor management software (ERP) and related programs
