Shift Engineer

Job Summary

Conduct planned and reactive maintenance on a range of generators, diagnosing faults and performing breakdown repairs. Liaise with coordinators to ensure efficient scheduling and planning while adhering to health, safety, environmental, and quality standards. Collect parts from suppliers as required and keep accurate records using the company's bespoke management system. Work a shift pattern of five days in seven, mainly midweek, occasionally assisting other engineers in the field with a provided company vehicle. Requires time-served mechanical or electrical engineering experience with generators ranging from 20-1500kVA, a full UK driving licence, and the ability to perform risk assessments.

Required Qualifications

  • Time-served Mechanical/Electrical Engineer or qualified to NVQ Level 2 or above
  • Experience with generators ranging from 20-1500kVA
  • Ability to perform risk assessments
  • Full UK driving licence (maximum of 6 points)
  • Willingness to undertake towing training if needed
  • Confidence in dealing with customers from a variety of sectors
  • Comfortable communicating both in person and over the phone
  • Working a shift pattern 5 days in 7, mainly midweek
  • Occasional assistance to other engineers in the field
  • Adherence to health, safety, environmental, and quality standards
  • Collecting parts from suppliers as required
  • Keeping accurate records using the company's bespoke management system
