Job Summary
Shift Engineer at InterContinental Hotel Cleveland performs major repairs and maintenance to hotel interior/exterior, rooms, and equipment (including HVAC, lighting, plumbing, refrigeration, water treatment) to meet safety standards and brand expectations. Requires advanced vocational training plus two years of general building maintenance/contractor experience, and may require certifications/license where mandated. Responsibilities include inventory security, coordinating with other departments, responding to guest questions/requests, educating hotel staff on safe equipment use, and performing preventative maintenance. Must be able to lift 100-300 pounds, stand/walk frequently, and work nights, weekends, or holidays as needed. Salary rate is $18.57 per hour (annualized to $38,666). Proficiencies in reading/writing, basic math, and documentation of tasks are expected.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced vocational training plus two years of experience in general building maintenance or construction, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Professional certification and license if required by law.
- Specialized knowledge and skills or certification within a field or discipline such as plumbing, electrician, carpentry, equipment mechanics, HVAC, refrigeration, etc.
- May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
