Job Summary
Shift Commander is responsible for overseeing daily EMS operations on their assigned shift, supervising EMTs, Advanced EMTs, Paramedics, and other staff, training and mentoring team members, and evaluating performance. The role requires ensuring compliance with safety regulations, company protocols, and clinical guidelines; responding to incidents and managing scene operations; coordinating communication between crews, dispatch, and hospital staff; and providing leadership, feedback, and real-time problem-solving to maintain productivity and quality during shifts. The position demands strong leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment, with flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Full-time schedule with scheduled overtime during peak periods. Experience in leadership and a valid paramedic/EMT certification are required, with preference for prior management or leadership experience.
Required Qualifications
- Texas Paramedic or Advanced EMT certification
- Minimum of 2 years field experience
