Job Summary
Shift Care Nurse responsible for perioperative patient care, including comprehensive preoperative assessment and planning, coordinating care for cardiovascular and thoracic surgical cases, supervising nursing staff, and providing mentorship. Requires strong clinical judgment, evidence-based practice, and leadership in the operating room environment. Must maintain BLS certification and hold RN licenses in IL/MO/OK/WI. The role emphasizes patient-centered care, safety, infection control, and collaboration with physicians and the surgical team. This is a full-time day-shift role at SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital with a sign-on bonus discussion and comprehensive benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of accredited nursing program or equivalent licensing education
- Registered Nurse (RN) license for IL, MO, OK, or WI
- Basic Life Support (BLS) HealthCare Provider (AHA)
- Nursing experience in perioperative care and advanced surgical settings
- Experience with cardiovascular and thoracic surgical cases
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to mentor less-experienced staff
- Ability to coordinate and delegate care within a surgical team
- Ability to work full-time, day shift
- Ability to meet physical demands of nursing role
