Shift Building Operator

Job Summary
Shift Building Operator is an integral part of the Plant Operations and Maintenance department and maintains responsibility for inspecting the facility/mechanical room. Duties include performing preventative maintenance to ensure continuous operation of equipment, diagnosing problems with equipment, providing feedback to ensure new construction/modification will not impact existing systems, repairing equipment, and contributing to the efficient operation of the department. Requires minimum high school or recognized equivalent plus a Building Operations certificate/diploma or a 3rd/4th Class Stationary Engineer certificate (TSSA) or a recognized licensed trade certification (HVAC, Plumbing, Millwright, Electrician); if licensed trade, COQ; minimum 2 years related experience; computer literacy; strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills; ability to multi-task; knowledge of applicable policies. Asset if prior health care experience.
Required Qualifications
- At minimum, completion of high school or recognized equivalent
- A Certificate or Diploma in Building Operations, or a 3rd or 4th Class Stationary Engineer Certificate (TSSA), or a recognized licensed trade certification (HVAC, Plumbing, Millwright, Electrician)
- If licensed trade, possession of the provincial Certificate of Qualifications (COQ)
- Minimum of 2 years practical and related experience
- Computer literate to operate automated systems
- Effective organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge of applicable legislative, UHN and/or departmental policies
- Previous related experience in a health care setting, an asset
