Job Summary
Conduct order and security of inmates within a detention facility under supervision, transport inmates to and from court and medical facilities, supervise inmate work projects throughout the County, and assist in correcting antisocial attitudes and behavior. Complete a 13-week Adult Correctional Academy training program as a trainee before entering the 18-month probationary period as a sworn Sheriff's Correctional Deputy. Maintain a certificate of CPR and first-aid training and successfully pass a thorough medical examination, background investigation, and agility test.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or possession of a General Education Development (G.E.D.) Certificate
- Applicants who have passed their 20th birthday
- Possession of a valid California Driver's License
- Have never been convicted of a felony
- Must possess the legal right to work in the United States
- Must be able to take and pass a thorough medical examination
- Vision must not be less than 20/100, correctable to 20/20 with normal depth and color perception
- Must be able to successfully demonstrate and maintain physical fitness in order to perform the full scope and functions of the job
- Must be able to pass a complete background investigation including fingerprints and a search of local, state and national files for criminal history
