Job Summary
Conduct order and security maintenance within detention facilities, transport inmates to and from courts and medical facilities, supervise inmate work crews, and assist in correcting antisocial behaviors. Enter a 13-week Adult Correctional Academy training program followed by an 18-month probationary period under training officer supervision. Maintain CPR and first-aid certification, pass background investigations, and complete the agility examination including obstacle courses and timed runs.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from high school or possession of a General Education Development (G.E.D.) Certificate
- Applicants who have passed their 20th birthday
- Possession of a valid California Driver's License
- Have never been convicted of a felony
- Must possess the legal right to work in the United States
- Must be able to take and pass a thorough medical examination
- Vision must not be less than 20/100, correctable to 20/20 with normal depth and color perception
- Must be able to successfully demonstrate and maintain physical fitness
- Must be able to pass a complete background investigation including fingerprints and a search of local, state and national files for criminal history
