Job Summary
Shelter Worker serves as The Salvation Army representative to Shelter Guests, Apartment Tenants and Visitors, ensuring a safe and secure environment; responsibilities include admissions, orientation, policy enforcement, reception duties, supporting residents, meal service, cleaning, safety Checks, and collaboration with Lead Hand/Case Worker; requires Grade 12, Food Safe 1, First Aid 1, valid driver’s license, ability to pass background checks; 3pm–11pm shift, Monday–Friday in Campbell River, BC; compensation range $24.47–$24.85/hour CAD with a max of $25.23/hour CAD; benefits and growth opportunities described.
Required Qualifications
- Education completed Grade 12 or equivalent
- Food Safe level 1 certification
- First Aid Level 1 certification
- A valid Drivers’ License and clean drivers abstract
- Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully (The Salvation Army Abuse Registry, vulnerable sector check)
- Criminal Records Check to be done at hire
- Minimum one year’s experience in the Social Services field would be considered an asset
- Post-Secondary certifications in related fields would be considered an asset
