Job Summary
Answer phones, monitor shelter entrances, and perform guest intakes to ensure safe, affirming operations for single adults experiencing homelessness. Conduct daily rounds to maintain a calm atmosphere, manage guest behavior using de-escalation skills, and document incidents via security footage and HMIS rosters. Prepare and serve meals, perform cleaning and laundry, and coordinate volunteer food deliveries while completing administrative tasks like data entry and paperwork navigation. Work collaboratively with program staff and facilities teams to support site routines, attend regular staff meetings, and represent Agate at community trainings. Shifts run 9:30p to 7:30p or 10:30p to 8:30p with 1-4 standby assignments per month, requiring a mobile phone, data plan, and ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Required Qualifications
- Must have a mobile phone and data plan for required employer software and standby shift scheduling.
- Must be flexible to work at either one of our two shelters.
- Must agree to work 1-4 standby shifts per month.
- Lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds routinely.
- Have experience with Microsoft Office products
- must possess a personal mobile phone with an active data plan sufficient to download required applications and reliably respond to on-call shifts.
- Pass background check.
- Ability to meet expectations regarding paperwork and documentation through organizational skills, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently and accurately, competency and comfort using technology and computers.
- Work respectfully with guests, coworkers, and key stakeholders who are diverse with respect to race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, and religion.
- The ability to establish rapport quickly with people experiencing a crisis through the use of trauma-informed care, client-centered care, and strength-based approaches.
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with Coordinated Entry Systems.
- Experience with HMIS.
- Bilingual skills relevant to the individuals we serve (Spanish, Hmong, Oromo, Somali, Amharic).
- Experience working in settings with all genders.
