Job Summary
Examine animals to determine disease or injury, treat them surgically or medically, and perform sterilization procedures. Evaluate new approaches to problem solving, coordinate team treatment plans for acute illness and trauma, and conduct research on parasite control. Establish and implement disease prevention measures, maintain the surgical suite, and test or inoculate animals against rabies and other disorders. Interact with volunteers and internal/external customers while leveraging evidence-based medicine to deliver quality patient care. Requires a DVM degree, valid Florida license, and ability to lift 50 pounds in a fast-paced environment.
Required Qualifications
- Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine
- Valid and Current State of Florida Veterinarian License
- at least one year of experience in a veterinary clinic or animal shelter
- personable
- able to communicate with and direct staff and work as a member of a team
- able to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis

- Shelter Luv software (or similar software)
- ability to walk, climb stairs and ladders, run, stoop, bend, stand, push, pull, move and carry heavy objects
- ability to deal with acute illness and trauma and be able to coordinate a team to determine the best treatment plan
