Job Summary
Shelter Veterinarian at the Humane Society of Harford County in Fallston, MD (approximately 20 hours per week). Provide shelter medicine with preventive care, diagnostics, medical treatment, and surgical services including high-volume spay/neuter, while collaborating with veterinarians, technicians, and staff. Responsibilities include attending shelter and foster animals, emergency care when on-site, regulatory compliance as the Responsible Veterinarian of Record, and contributing to population health, disease prevention, and live release outcomes. Requires a DVM, Maryland license, DEA registration, liability insurance, and weekend rotation availability. Opportunity to work with a progressive team and support animal welfare in the community.
Required Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent) from an accredited veterinary school
- Active Maryland veterinary license in good standing
- Active DEA registration
- Ability to serve as Responsible Veterinarian of Record for the State of Maryland
- Professional liability insurance
- Experience performing routine surgical procedures, including spay/neuter surgeries
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to participate in a rotating weekend coverage schedule, typically including at least one weekend per month
