Shelter Support Relief Staff – Residential Programs (E)

Residential Relief staff provides “as needed coverage” to the Residential, Youth and Emergency Services programs, serving multiple populations in shelters and housing-focused programming. Responsibilities include ensuring participants’ voices are heard, understanding program requirements (including referral processes, support services, HMIS/Service Point), coordinating with the team to deliver appropriate housing stability and support services, maintaining safety and cleanliness of the facility, documenting interactions and eligibility information, assisting with volunteer training and supervision, handling front desk duties, and contributing to program-wide objectives within a trauma-informed, housing-first framework. Some duties involve crisis de-escalation, collaboration across teams, and a willingness to develop in areas such as housing, benefits, or legal services; the role requires confidentiality, professionalism, and adherence to the Social Work Code of Ethics. The position is an as-needed, contractual relief role with schedule flexibility and essential-staff expectations.
