Job Summary
Shelter Shift Supervisor at Rockwood Bridge Shelter in Portland, OR. Oversees shelter shift operations, provides advocacy and referral services, mentors staff, promotes teamwork, and ensures safety and adherence to policies. Responsibilities include leading staff, coordinating coverage, training Residential Advocates, participating in program design and evaluation, and performing duties of Residential Advocate and Custodian. Requires completing First Aid/CPR/AED and Bloodborne Pathogens training within set timelines; Narcan training; and strong communication, problem-solving, and intercultural skills. Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field
- two (2) years of social services experience
- one (1) year of experience working at Transition Projects
- Demonstrated ability to train, lead, and provide support to colleagues
- Demonstrated ability to be an effective problem solver
- Understanding of the issues surrounding homelessness, chemical dependency, mental health, domestic violence and sexual assault
- Demonstrated ability to work independently
- Ability to appropriately assess a situation and take corrective action as necessary
- Knowledge of services available to low-income and homeless persons through Transition Projects and other agencies or the demonstrated ability to obtain such knowledge
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team in the delivery of services to participants
- Computer literacy; ability to use word processing, database, spreadsheet, e-mail, and Internet programs
- Excellent oral, written, and telephone communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Bilingual English/Spanish fluency strongly preferred
- Office/clerical experience; familiarity with office equipment (copier, fax, multi-line phone system, etc.)
