Shelter Manager

Lead and manage daily shelter operations, including animal care, intake, housing, sanitation, and adoption programs, while supervising staff and volunteers. Develop and enforce standard operating procedures, monitor performance with data-informed reporting, and manage resources, facilities, and budgets. Coordinate with a contract veterinarian on treatment protocols and participate in humane euthanasia decisions with leadership and veterinary partners. Address complex customer and community concerns and support organizational initiatives to improve animal outcomes and operational effectiveness. Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent (associate or bachelor’s preferred), 3+ years in an animal shelter or comparable environment, 3+ years of customer service, leadership experience preferred, strong communication and decision-making skills, ability to handle emotionally challenging situations, valid driver’s license, and availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays with occasional in-state travel. Salary: $40,000–$45,000 annually (DOE).
