Job Summary
Provide crisis interventions via 24-hour Crisis Line during assigned shifts and support Shelter residents in Garland and Plano. Conduct client intakes and exits, maintain accurate records in Salesforce and communication logs, and arrange emergency transportation as needed. Assess physical, social, and emotional needs of clients to apply appropriate interventions while delivering culturally sensitive education and information. Collaborate with shelter volunteers, attend staff meetings, and follow pandemic protocols and policies. Treat all clients with respect, dignity, and empathy, ensuring confidentiality and preventing discriminatory barriers. Available to work any shift, including weekends and holidays, at either shelter or Outreach locations.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Must be available to work any shift, at either shelter location, as needed
- Must be available to work at either Outreach locations as needed
- Must be available to work a minimum of one weekend per month and holidays
- Must have ability to respond in a constructive, supportive manner to adults and children in crisis situations
- Must be sensitive to varying cultural, ethnic, and social backgrounds
- Must possess valid Texas driver's license and maintain a good driving record
- Must possess a means of reliable transportation, with current required Texas liability, and can travel throughout multiple location sites
- Ability to lift 10+ pounds
- Ability to function as a team member
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology or a related field
- Crisis counseling knowledge and/or experience
- Knowledge of social service/mental health
- One-year experience working with victims of domestic violence
- Bilingual (English and Spanish)
