Job Summary
Prepare and cook nutritious lunch and dinner meals for shelter residents while planning balanced menus that meet basic dietary and nutritional needs. Maintain food safety, sanitation, and inventory standards by ensuring proper storage, labeling, and communication of supply needs to management. Accommodate dietary restrictions and special meal requirements when necessary, and support a positive, trauma-informed environment by following all shelter policies. This role requires daily on-site coverage, standing for extended periods, and lifting up to 40 pounds in a fast-paced kitchen. Food Handler Certification is required prior to start.

- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and manage daily kitchen operations
- Reliable and punctual with flexible availability
- Food Handler Certification (or ability to obtain prior to start date)
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience as a cook in a shelter, school, community program, restaurant, or institutional setting preferred
