Job Summary

Assist survivors in locating and retaining housing while addressing immediate needs including emotional support and safe relationships. Provide referrals to stabilize households in permanent housing through services for substance use, financial security, and mental health. Advocate and collaborate with landlords, housing programs, and social services to secure resources. Identify and integrate trauma dynamics and crisis impacts into resident management. Maintain resident documentation using software databases and answer support-line inquiries. Provide and support on-call after hours and weekend needs on a scheduled rotation. Work closely with staff to obtain client feedback and ensure adequate services, including safe transfers. Maintain professional boundaries and comply with ethical interactions. Transport clients in a company vehicle as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 2-4 years' experience in human services/lived experience, counseling, residential setting, or the ability to be trained
  • Knowledge of domestic and sexual violence including elder abuse
  • Ability to develop positive, compassionate relationships with victims/ survivors through trauma informed approach
  • Knowledge of community-based service delivery systems
  • Knowledge of local housing systems such as Section 8, supportive and transitional living services
  • Ability to work in a crisis-oriented setting
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques
  • Strong interpersonal, oral communication and written skills
  • Proficient planning, organizational, time management, and administrative skills
  • Strong conflict resolution skills with both internal and external contacts
  • Must possess a valid New York State Driver's License
  • Have access to a reliable vehicle for travel throughout the area and to transport clients in a company vehicle
  • Displayed ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong training and facilitation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Completion of a satisfactory background check
