Job Summary

Provide crisis intervention, local service delivery advocacy, and short-term counseling to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and trauma via face-to-face or telephone contact. Maintain client databases, respond to the 24-hour crisis line during working hours, and assist clients in identifying needs and accessing community resources including legal, medical, and income programs. Perform daily cleaning duties, prepare rooms for new residents, and assist with room turnover to ensure a welcoming environment. Travel throughout the area for client transport and other shelter needs during daytime shifts. Respond promptly to difficult and emotional client situations using a trauma-informed care approach.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1-3 years' experience working in human services setting
  • Thorough knowledge of domestic and sexual violence including elder abuse
  • Knowledge of community service delivery systems in the community, as well as an understanding of the criminal and civil justice systems
  • Strong knowledge of crisis intervention techniques and ability to provide trauma informed services
  • Must possess a valid New York State Driver's License and have access to a reliable vehicle for travel throughout the area and to transport clients in a company vehicle
  • Completion of a satisfactory background check
  • Mon-Fri 3:30pm-11:30pm

Desired Qualifications

  • Associate degree in human services a plus OR equivalent combination of education and experience
