Job Summary
Shelter Associate based in Odesa, Ukraine, will support UNHCR’s Emergency Shelter and Housing activities across the oblasts, coordinating with government authorities, contractors, and partners to identify and assess construction projects, estimate costs for repair and rehabilitation, monitor implementation, assist with procurement and bid evaluations, supervise works, review technical documentation, and prepare regular reports. The role involves close collaboration with stakeholders, including local authorities, and may require regular travel within Khersonska and Mykholaivska oblasts with overnight stays in remote locations. The incumbent will work with engineers and architects to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient execution of activities, focusing on emergency and winter response without undertaking detailed designs or calculations. Proficiency in English and Ukrainian is required; knowledge of humanitarian operations is desirable.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil engineering, Architecture or Construction Engineering (or other related field) is required.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience with Bachelor or equivalent or higher
