Job Summary
Shelter Advocate provides frontline shelter operations, intake, guest assistance, and program support across two Minneapolis housing-focused shelters. Responsibilities include answering phones, conducting intakes, monitoring guest behavior, light housekeeping, meal service, administrative work, data entry in HMIS, referrals, and coordination with staff, volunteers, and external relations. Duties emphasize trauma-informed, client-centered interactions, de-escalation, facility safety, documentation, and shift coverage (including on-call and as-needed variations). Requires lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, competent use of Microsoft Office, and successful background check; shifts include early, late, overnight, and on-call rotations; union represented; compensation starts at $23.07/hour. Experience with Coordinated Entry Systems, HMIS, and bilingual abilities are preferred.
