Job Summary

Shelter Advocate for 2nd shift at Journey Center's Emergency Shelter providing 24-hour coverage, intake and assessments, crisis intervention, helpline, documentation, safety planning, client advocacy, and coordination of shelter operations; requires Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in domestic violence/child abuse, valid Ohio driver license, ability to work extended/non-traditional hours, trauma-informed approach, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to use the agency database in a fast-paced shelter environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience working in the areas of domestic violence and child abuse
  • Must have and maintain a valid Ohio driver license with appropriate insurance coverage
  • Must be available to work extended and non-traditional work hours
  • Knowledge of civil and criminal court system, crisis intervention practices
  • Ability to address crisis situations and provide support to clients
  • Experience in building trauma-informed organizations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain client case records in agency database
  • Ability to collaborate with shelter leadership and staff
