Job Summary

Assemble and solder component parts of shell and mix can assemblies according to production specifications. Read blueprints, picklists, and production orders to retrieve parts, then cut, bend, and grind copper tubing and work pieces. Operate open flame torches with proper oxygen acetylene settings to brazing specifications while installing parts in fixtures and jigs. Use acid, soft and silver solder, and brazing rods to bond copper coils to mix tanks and join metals together. Key punch mix cans using proper gauges and test heat treat machines using airguns to ensure parts meet quality and production standards. Perform preventive maintenance on machines, maintain work area cleanliness, and move finished parts to the trucking aisle while keeping production records. Initial training for the 2nd shift is conducted on the first shift for 4, 8, or 12 weeks depending on position.

Required Qualifications

  • Three months commercial, vocational, or other specialized training beyond high school
  • One year related work experience
  • Manual Dexterity: Work requires regular speed and accuracy for most of the working day
  • Physical Effort: Work requires a considerable variety of fairly steady active physical exertion
  • Continuous exposure to disagreeable features
  • Injury may require a doctor's care. Time lost for part of a day may be to receive medical treatment
