Job Summary
Stand approximately 8 hours per day hanging live birds onto an overhead shackle line, grasping chickens by the legs with two hands to prevent injury, and lifting them upside down with the breast facing away. Hang at least 28 birds per minute weighing approximately 5-10 pounds while wearing all required safety equipment and observing hygiene and safety procedures. Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor within the Receiving or Live Hanger department. Work at a fast pace for the entire shift in a cold, hot, damp, dusty, and dimly lit environment involving repetitive bending, lifting, twisting, and turning.
Required Qualifications
- Applicants must be 18 years of age
- provide proof of authorization to work legally in the United States
- pass a urinalysis screening
- Must be able to work at a fast pace for the entire shift
- Must be able to work flexible hours and some weekends as production requires
- Must be able to work in a cold, hot, damp and dusty environment
- Must observe all required hygiene & safety procedures at all times
- Must be able to stand for the entire shift
- Must be able to perform other duties within the department as required
- Must comply with all policies and rules
- Must be able to work in a dim and ultraviolet fluorescent light
- Must be able to work around a minimum amount of dust and or ammonia from live birds
- Must be able to hang at least 28 birds per minute that weigh approximately 5-10 pounds
- Use two hands, to grasp live chicken by the legs, taking care not to bruise the chicken or break any parts
- Lift the chicken and turn it upside down with the breast facing away
- Wear all required safety equipment
- The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation
