Job Summary
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems while troubleshooting and repairing equipment failures to support production needs. Document all work performed using SAP and assist in installations, upgrades, and modifications as directed. Use hand and power tools, welders, and diagnostic devices to complete tasks while adhering to Lockout/Tagout, confined space entry, and hot work permitting procedures. Communicate with production, sanitation, and QA personnel to identify issues and report recurring problems for long-term solutions. Maintain tools and work areas in a clean, organized condition. Work the 2nd shift in a cold, noisy environment performing duties that require standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working at heights.
Required Qualifications
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical troubleshooting
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, equipment manuals, and technical drawings
- Proficient use of hand tools, welding equipment, and multimeters
- Basic computer skills for data entry and system navigation (SAP, email, etc.)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team under pressure
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and kneel for extended periods (entire shift – approx. 8+ hours)
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. frequently
- Willingness and ability to work in a wet, cold, and noisy environment (approx. 40°F–50°F)
- Willingness and ability to work at heights, or on ladders or platforms when required
- Willingness to wear hearing protection
- Willingness to wear slip-resistant footwear
- Willingness to wear a hard hat
- Willingness to wear cut-resistant gloves when working with sharp tools or materials
- Willingness to wear safety glasses
- Willingness to wear other PPE as designated by task (e.g., welding helmet, face shield, respiratory protection)
- Demonstrate ability to complete standard PMs and basic troubleshooting tasks with minimal supervision by the end of the ramp-up period
