Job Summary

Disassemble, modify, repair, and reassemble complex aircraft metal items and systems including bulkheads, airframes, wings, and fuel tanks. Analyze structural damage, develop patterns using parallel and radial line development, and fabricate items from stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, and composite materials. Cut, bend, shape, and form metals with irregular angles using pneumatic and power riveting tools. Assemble and repair items via seaming, soldering, bolting, and spot welding while using precision measuring instruments. Read and interpret blueprints, adhere to U.S. Military aviation maintenance criteria, and perform tasks requiring lifting up to 50 pounds. Travel up to 25% may be required; a high school diploma and five years of relevant experience in heavy structures or military aviation preferred.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints
  • Must be familiar with U.S. Military aviation maintenance criteria and specifications
  • Must be able to manufacture, fabricate, develop, install and repair a variety of items from a variety of metals including high strength steel, titanium, aluminum and numerous alloys, fiberglass and honeycomb/composite skins
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must be able to pass a National Agency background check, which could include a criminal history and credit check for access to Government facilities
  • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for certain periods throughout the day
  • Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands
  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders
  • Must be able to see imperfections, micrometer readings and other small scales
  • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear
  • Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth
  • Must be able to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, fork lift, APU, etc.

Desired Qualifications

  • A&P license not required but a plus
  • Prefer experience from military fixed wing and/or rotor community, including, but not limited to: F/A-18, P-8, F-5, T-6,T-44,H-60 variants or civilian heavy structures sheet metal/fastener R&R background
  • Five (5) years relevant experience in heavy structures or military aviation background preferred
  • Military installation DEPOT level maintenance experience and/or equivalent major MRO facility preferred
  • Up to 25% travel may be required
