Job Summary
Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet metal products and equipment, including ductwork, plenums, air devices, louvers, and air moving equipment. Set up and operate fabricating machines such as shears, brakes, bending rolls, and punch and drill presses to cut, bend, and straighten sheet metal. Use spot welders, hand-held power tools, air hammers, and hand tools to assemble duct work and other sheet metal assemblies. Install duct work and sheet metal assemblies on work site according to blue prints and specifications, then install air moving equipment like air handlers, heat pumps, exhaust fans, and unit heaters. Inspect and test installations for conformance with project requirements. Requires one year of sheetmetal experience in the commercial industry and basic math skills.
Required Qualifications
- Prior experience with sheetmetal work in the mechanical/HVAC industry
- Understand basic math
- Work skillfully with tools, metals, and machines
- Have one year of sheetmetal experience in the commercial industry
- Visualize three-dimensional objects from drawings, sketches, or blueprints
- Work within precise limits and standards of accuracy
- Perform a variety of duties which may change often
- Rate information using measurable standards
